Up in a high hill, dominating the village of Agios Stefanos, lay the ruins of a Venetian castle. It’s not known when it was build though it was there in the Byzantine years, and the Venetians fortified it when the Turkish raids began.
Certain findings show that the fortress has been built on an ancient citadel dating back to the geometric era.
